Hi Neville

It is undeniable that Maharaji was seen as God; this was publicly throughout the 70's and early 80's; and privately even now by most inner circle premies. Note that Elan Vital do not, in fact, deny it. I personally do not have a problem with this; the problem I have is why Elan Vital are in fact trying to deny that it happened, when countless thousands know that it did. Why hide it?

I meant that they do not (at least in the text I was responding to) deny that Maharaji was seen as God or God-like. But they are saying that any attempts to show that he was seen that way are fruitless.

I agree both that this distinction is pretty thin, and that my wording did not make it clear in any case.

I have rewritten that paragraph in the article on my site accordingly. The new para reads:

I don't know what they mean by 'a desperate effort'. It is undeniable that Maharaji was and is seen as God or God-like; he was seen this way publicly throughout the 70's and early 80's; and privately even now by most inner circle premies. Many thousands who lived through that period know it as a fact. Why try to hide it? Note that Elan Vital do not, in fact, deny this; they only state that efforts to show this are 'desperate' and 'obsessive'.

Thanks for pointing it out.
