I don't eat cows. That would be an extreme insult to my bovine friends. They would smell it on me and be afraid. They are prey animals and see humans as predators, which they usually are.My boys (Rudy and Blue) are in training to become "handy" around my place. I've designed and built a new style harness for them based on mainly a Chinese "horse collar" and a touch of the Swiss style rig for bovine. It's either that or submit my pals to the cruel and inefficient yoke.
I had Blue out of the pasture yesterday and down the gravel lane. He was really good but wanted to run a little when he got out of the woods and to the open road, so I let him. At one point, he was pulling me along and I had to whoa him a bit. It was rather exciting to be on the edge of losing control (not that I like nose diving into the gravel or anything.)
Although my Dexters are the world's smallest breed of cattle, at almost eight months old, they weigh around 350 pounds each. They are critters of routine and love their little beddy-byes I made for them in the small barn. It's funny to see them put themselves in for the night as I used to have to do that manually each evening.
They are realy sweet dispositioned and their breath smells so fragrant, like chlorophyl, very nice. Blue would lick me to pieces if he could but Rudy is a little standoffish but better behaved during training. They are a lot of work as well as fun, but it keeps me moving and outside, so it's just what I wanted.
But that's probably more than you or anyone else needed to know...
