Espanola, NM—In an official state proclamation, New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson declared October 23, 2004, as "Yogi Bhajan Memorial Day." Richardson announced the proclamation in front of thousands attending the memorial service for the Sikh leader who passed away on October 6 at age 75.

Didn't politicians also attend church services for Jim Jones Peoples Temple when Jones was the San Francisco Housing Commissioner? I'll have to look that up.
