Cynthia, Going off topic here with a plug for my favorite music station which is now on the Internet (THANK GOD!). But, great posts. I like all kinds of music. I have the Afro-Cuban All Stars album. Hey, if you want to hear the music I like try this way cool Internet radio station out of my beloved Seattle http://www.kexp.org/ It's kinda still out of the University of Washington Communications Dept., but it is currently housed in very deluxe digs at the EXP Music Project (generously funded by MS Paul Allen). It's commercial free and there's all sorts of different types of shows. Mostly during the day it's "alternative", but not that heavy hardcore. The Monday night show is African music. Tuesday is World music. Etc. I'm sure you will find something you like. There's 5 different streaming formats to choose from (2 x WMA, Real, 2 x MP3). It might be tough with dial-up, but it' do-able. I've been a listener and supporter of college radio since 1981. The only commerical radio I listen to is either news radio or NPR or Garrison Keeler. Commerical rock stations suck! I think if more people listened to KEXP that the world will be more peaceful. Modified by Babaluji at Mon, Jan 10, 2005, 19:49:21 |
