Tom can answer for himself but to me it's pretty clear.  EV wasn't concerned so much with the putative damage it suffered.  Rather, it wanted to strike out at the journalist who exposed Rawat to all Australia as the ridiculous, venal cult leader he happens to be.  It wasn't the documents or the data they contained.  That was all small change.  No, EV just wanted to get John MacGregor and unfortunately, he gave them an opening. 

Answer me this, while we're asking so-called "hard questions": do you think anyone will ever take Rawat seriously in Australia after John's article?  And don't you think that anyone who's witnessed EV's aggressive action against him can see it for what it really is, a vindictive lashing out by a despicable, petty cult?
