My eldery parent unit is snowed in their house in the midwest in a place where snowfall is mostly uncommon. The temps have been around 0 F and now has risen to 22 F, but with the snow the roads are unplowed and impassable.

Their furnace is barely keeping up to keep the place warm and the State officials are asking citizens to limit their temperatures to avoid overwhelming the utilities.

My father is nearly 90. I'm a little bit concerned. If the electricity goes out then there goes your heat and in those low temps it would be really difficult to stay alive stumbling around your dark house with hypothermia. He needs to buy a generator.

here in my little bubble of no virus and nice weather (flooding yesterday) it's not the same reassurance of having a familiar weather pattern when record cold temperatures are being reached somewhere else.

But my cat is still drinking from a bowl of fresh rainwater having eaten fish that was caught in clean waters.  

tbh, it seemed as if the virus had helped this region by stopping the onslaught of holidayers in the nick of time (it was overwhelming the previous Summer).  But now of course there are lots of escapees from the city.  It's gone a little nuts round here - the orange people have bought up big.  It's so much the atmosphere in town has changed.  bit scary really, like seeing an ugly face pop out of the wallpaper.

No matter what, I feel blessed.  But I think it might be time to start a new religion where we pray to the mighty meteorite to come and give us a clean death.
