Missouri state lawmaker charged with selling fake stem cell treatments and claiming they are a cure for Covid-19

Here's some of the juicy quotes:

A newly elected Missouri state representative and assistant physician faces charges for allegedly running a fraud scheme in her three clinics and providing prescription drugs illegally, according to federal prosecutors.

Prosecutors in the Western District of Missouri claim that Patricia "Tricia" Ashton Derges, who operates three "Ozark Valley Medical Clinic" locations, sold what she falsely advertised as a stem cell treatment. Court documents cite one instance on April 11, 2020, when Derges wrote a Facebook post about her clinic's treatment as an "amazing treatment (that) stands to provide a potential cure for Covid-19 patients that is safe and natural."

However, Derges actually administered a substance called "amniotic fluid allograft" to patients, according to authorities. It's a substance the University of Utah told investigators it sold to her for about $244 for 1 milliliter, according to the indictment. Authorities claim Derges knew the product did not contain any cells, including stem cells. In total, Derges' patients paid her approximately $191,815.00 for amniotic fluid that did not contain stem cells, the documents say. She charged her patients $950 to $1,450 per milliliter, according to court documents.

Derges, a Republican, has pleaded not guilty, according to her attorney, Stacey Bilyeu, who stressed she is "presumed innocent until proven guilty."

I dunno Drek, isn't it all of them?

Fascinating that she thinks she can get off the charge.  well not really, don't these hefty sweet liars believe their talent will get them everywhere?  and, come to think of it aren't they just about right - I will be interested to know if she gets away with it.

You know what, I've just realised I could make the case that my place is a hefty sweet lie.  I have solar panels on the roof, a battery on the wall, a rainwater tank (fab to have nice water to drink) and I just bought a lemon tree, grafted to go with my avocado trees and dwarf snake beans and cherry tomatoes, all this stuff I am growing now that works here in this garden.  And I am a bit excited at the moment with plans to build a gorgeous little lap pool - that's a lot of water storage quite apart from everything else it means so that's the hefty sweet lie, that I am making a self-sufficient property - we all know it would last 5 seconds against no supermarket down the road.

Apparently there's these bunkers rich people are building in New Zealand and they go a long distance into the ground and have hydroponic gardens, the whole enchilada, and yet they are only rated at giving an extra 10 years.  Do you want to live underground from a world gone toxic for ten years, is what it makes me wonder.  maybe it would be nice to have that time, maybe not, don't know.  I've always fancied a bunker with a view, you know set into the cliffs looking out with a big view, but I don't know that I'd want to live underground.

Sure seems like it's a lot of them. I was talking to my Republican father and I was probably criticizing the Republicans somehow and he got all defensive, of course. But, certainly the Republican party has been taken over by Trumpism and we're probably seeing it fracture into two parties???? I just don't see the Republican party cleaning house and fixing the mess it's in while Trump is still their cult leader.

Living in a bunker?

I've seen where people in the US are buying abandoned nuclear rocket silos and refurbishing them.

Hmm, it's funny for myself in that while I do manage to get out and about, I do stay mostly indoors all day and all night. I have a yard and all that, but mostly I'm inside.

So, living in a bunker or a silo?

I'd probably get claustrophobic.

BTW, I got a vaccine shot yesterday. Arm is sore, but I feel ok. However, even after I get the 2nd shot and it all kicks in 100% I/we are still going to need to socially distance and wear masks. It's so strange to imagine this is how the rest of our lives will be.

Good to hear the vaccine has gone ok.  But yes social distancing is here to stay isn't it.

Definitely the bunker not a nuclear weapons silo, isn't it likely to be a bit radio active?

I think the idea of these bunkers is to create a world that replenishes itself, I do find it fascinating - can you make a world where the oxygen is made and it powers itself without sunlight or wind or water?  it's that perpetual motion thing, I guess.  some way of generating power.  oh I suppose there's a number of ways of approaching it - making oil from crops perhaps.  or you build your bunker over an oil well.  Or maybe a chamber of magma boiling away, or I guess you could go to NZ, somewhere round Rotorua and build around a hot spring.  The most impressive thing I ever saw on the telly was a man in I think it was Iceland, he had built huge greenhouses in the snow over hot springs and he had a whole market garden - sunshine and bees and cropping tomatoes and all sorts of stuff.

If they break into two parties, Trumptians and Republicans, isn't it going to cause a lot of pain with people having to choose which one and families splitting down the middle and all that?
