I've seen footage of fire racing through the stubble of a paddock on it's way towards the camera man. oh I suppose it was taken from a helicopter come to think of it. okay racing towards the homestead.
they talk a lot about reducing fuel load over here but I think that's more about reducing it around your house than in the forest - the back burns are to make firebreaks. sometimes they work.
The shocking thing about last Summer was that the rainforest round here turned to tinder dry. Never seen that before, it's an awful feeling.
