Boris was surprisingly slow to take it seriously. Me and the Mrs started some form of isolation at the beginning of March. I couldn't believe how slack he was. The countries that have done best and are able to now consider opening up are those that clamped down early while infections were few, and did tests and contact tracing and isolating those contacts. There was that nonsense talk of herd immunity for a while. You can let him off the hook if you like. I thought the handling of it was a shambles.

But now it's out there and we're long past the containment stage. The evil genie won't go back in the bottle. I imagine they'll settle on a gradual lifting of movement restrictions, starting with the least vulnerable. Maybe we just quarantine all the vulnerable people and let the rest get back to normal, a few groups at a time, because even the young and healthy can end up in intensive care, and we only have so many intensive care beds.
