I still hold that he was exploited for his family’s gain.  His dad, watching your father beat followers to the point the child is trembling and shaking? The implication the dog was beaten?  Wonder where he drew the line?

Most abused children do not become abusers. I am not arguing that children are blank slates. 

I think Manson and Ted Bundy were kind of abused too. My point is not to let him off the hook.
