Well, I wonder too. I can't imagine any legal settlement. He's got his wealth and his lifestyle, and no matter what he did in the rest of his days, I expect there'd be enough dying sycophants bequeathing him their worldly goods to keep him in the style he's become accustomed to.

One of those times I hitched across America, I had a ride from a guy in a Cadillac who took me from the west of Texas to the east of Louisiana. That huge distance was his weekly commute, not only between two apparently thriving businesses, but between two homes, two wives, two sets of kids. Life for him was very full, and very good. I heard the details all the way across Texas. Through Louisiana, the conversation turned, along the lines of yeah, but what is life really about - well, I was a premie on the way to a festival.

When he dropped me off he was in tears. Of course the life he was leading was madly stressful, and he felt he actually couldn't cope much longer. He'd very much like to drop it all and come to see the guru. I was relieved he didn't.

Hitch-hiking such long distances meant I was often all day or longer in someone's company, and they often really opened up about their lives. I guess they knew they'd never see me again, so were able to speak knowing their secrets were safe. I have to say, I never saw a lifestyle close-up that I could be jealous of or wish to emulate, and some of the houses I stayed over in were pretty fancy.

In short, those trappings of success, the houses and planes and so on, don't persuade me that someone is living a life of contentment. Not at all. I'd hate to have such needs and requirements! Yes, it's a great shame he's conned so many people out of so much, but I doubt his life of huge appetites and excessive consumption and strained relationships is very satisfying at all. The man is a parasite, and I wouldn't want to be standing in his super expensive custom leather shoes.

There'll be no compensation for his victims, but I doubt he has anything to be jealous of. There's a troubled man behind the facade he works so hard to maintain.
