I call it compulsively self-disclosing and I am just like you. I have always been an open book about myself, but over the years I have learned to  moderate my disclosures and only give out what is absolutey necessary, and even then I don't always provide the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

On the other hand, I don't really like to lie because then I have to have a good memory. Once when I was a young thing, I applied for a job under a fake name just for the fun of it (in those days it was easy - no social media or technology). But I didn't have a home phone in those days so I told the employer I would phone them in the afternoon to learn the results of the interview. But when it came time to call (on a pay phone), I couldn't remember what name I had used and thought it might seem suspicious if I simply asked who got the job without giving my own name. I might have missed out on a very good job that day! LOL

My sister and I were always doing crazy things like that. One job she got, she used the name 'Skye Taylor' just for fun. It was before tax file numbers and IDs and all that, so she was Skye to them but not at home. It was all in good fun. But now, it isn't easy to pretend to be someone you aren't, and even if I did, my memory isn't good enough to remember the lies! So honesty is the best policy. Just not "total" honesty.
