Any user of the Internet is subject to many many malicious threats. This is a broad issue, and not the topic of this forum.

And the more you'll use the internet, the more problems you'll likely have to face.

If they're a bit paranoid about reading or posting here, some people may think the problems they'll get are linked to reading EPO or the forum - when it's not the case.

There are some simple ways to avoid trouble with viruses, worms, attacks etc...

1/ Update your browser with the latest security patches (Netscape 7.2 is now available - much safer than Microsoft's browser IMO).

2/ Have a good antivirus and firewall (regularly updated) installed on your computer - some of them are free.

3/ Use a couple of (free) tools to check what's going on in your computer (PC), like
Ad-Aware SE Personal software from Lavasoft (http://www.lavasoft.de/): detects and removes any spyware
(you'll be surprised to discover how many spywares are installed on your computer and are working in your back)
and
RegRun II (or III) from Greatis Software (http://www.greatis.com/)
that will help you to check and safely manage any active process in your PC.
(Regrun II and III are not the latest versions - don't have all the bells and whistles of the latest version, but you'll find them easily available for download on other websites)

And you'll be safe ...........
