While this movie (like all movies) suffers from melodrama, glamour and short attention span) it had one scene that I found particularly apposite. A group of young cult members are sitting around a fire having "satsang" with a non-member who has just come along because of the girl who has introduced him to the cult. At a certain point the young man has a moment of empathy with the girl giving satsang and suddenly he feels it. Leaving aside the girl, that's how I became involved: following up a request from a friend, hearing the grandiose claim "I will show you God" by Mahatma Padarthanand, suspicion and disbelief overcome by empathy followed by years of involvement. |
