Well the mods had to go back and read their own rules. We all thought that there was a rule of no political posts. After checking, we see that there isn't, or isn't anymore at least. Based on past forum experience, we have a natural paranoia of such posts because they can get nasty really fast and the discussions can take over the forum. So far this hasn't happened, so perhaps we are overreacting.The rules as they stand about off topic posts are as follows:

Occasionally discussions lead into other topics. These posts should include (OT) in the subject line. Please keep off topic posts to a minimum, and definitely do not start any off-topic threads. How this forum is managed, and any discussion of politics, are considered off-topic on this forum. There are countless other forums available on the internet for off-topic discussions.
We can leave it at that for now. If political posts become a problem, then we will have to prohibit such posts though, which everyone can probably understand.
