I read that article as well.  Here is the link for it.

One key theme of the article is the sense of identity and a feeling of belonging to an extended family fundamentalists will often feel.  However I'm not so sure I agree with the moral equivalence the author tries to highlight.  But, hey, we probably are going of on an OT tangent here.
