the quote that bill found to be his favorite was highlighting how followers (of Trungpa in this case) are able to justify abhorent behaviour and even see this as part of the wider teaching.  On the other hand people who are not followers see such abhorent behaviour for what it is.  That is non followers do not have the rose tinted glasses that followers have.

Well that is way I read the quote that bill found to be his favourite.  Maybe I misunderstood what you were saying in your post to bill?
