A more meaningless bait and switch | |||

Good point. Rawat seems to have reduced his introductory blather to uttter meaninglessness. I mean, there is nothing to argue with because he doesn't say anything beyond, life is nice, it's good to breathe, and there is a nice experience inside. PERIOD. But the mechanism is the same. If you accept that simplistic set of platitudes, (and for many people, there isn't any concrete reason not to, really), you can then enter into a long process where you learn not to doubt or think about it, and accept it as something really fantastic before you even get it. Also, the cult will try to convince you that you really need Rawat for it all to work (this really fantastic thing you don't have yet.) Then, I guess you can get the "inside" information at some point that Rawat is God, to be worshipped and financially supported. This is the part where you find out that it isn't really free, but if the first steps have worked, you aren't going to think about that, are you? What kind of screws Rawat though, is that ex-premies tell people about how he still has his feet kissed, and all the stuff he said in the past when he was being honest about what he thought about hismelf, like that he's the source of the experience, the Lord, etc. And if people hear this while they are still thinking, the cult loses them as recruits. This is what makes ex-premies so hated by the cult. They are the antidote to the bait and switch. Expirant, I really appreciate your comments, and whoever it was in your life that taught you to have courage and point out that the emperor isn't wearing any clothes. That's a harder thing to do than most people think. Thanks again. Modified by Joe at Tue, Sep 13, 2005, 14:11:35 |
