Although I agree that faith-based philosophies are nonsence and bad for us, and I agree with you that we should allow the mystery to be a mystery and we should allow ourselves to be ourselves as we are, I still think there is much more to life than people like John Gray are willing to acknowledge or even hope for.
I, too, have wondered why so many people accept belief systems. It seems so unnecessary. And all those people with their contradictory belief systems can never get along with each other. They are continually fightly about things like whether you can wear a hijab to school or what to eat or how to have sex without offending the creator, etc. Fight, fight, fight.
I don't think it's built-in. Hope not.
