Why did Malibu Prem get into charity works after 25 years of preaching that giving a hungry person a fish is worthless; that rather you need to teach him how to fish (and drinking Nectar and Cognac smoothies while remembering the Holy Name all at the same time?)!?  [Hilltop, help me out here, if you please.] (Of course, minus a year or so circa 1974 when he created DUO, the Divine United Organization, "to not only give the people Knowledge (bullshit Capital "K") but also to help them socially," I believe is the quote from the DUO Proclamaiton Movie. What a croc that was, eh? Ended before the war in Vietnam.

He has had built for himself an amazing multi-level fully HVAC’d compound/home in Delhi with amazing rose and vegetable gardens overlooking his dusty acre after acre compound; and an amazing earthquake-proof house (on wheels) overlooking the Pacific Ocean in a compound with a multi-bay garage for all his cars on the side of Santa Monica Mountains with a helipad and awesome views said to be worth $25 million (hence the nickname MP); and an amazingly beautiful restaurant and, I’m told, homes/“campsites” in the bush in Australia with a hydraulic grill that rises out of the ground.  Then all of a sudden:  The -- and folks, please, don’t forget the “The” -- THE Prem Rawat Foundation emerges out of nowhere and starts paying for eye exams.  Why?

A:  Changes to the United States tax laws, statues, regulations, cases, rulings and their interpretation and application to rich people.  If you had that answer, please raise your hand.  Thank you.

In just a few weeks, he’ll be partying with his “students,” playing the part of the “Master” for those with Smarcards, Down Under.  I kissed his feet there in a reception line just four years ago.  I didn’t care for it, however.  Soppy, stained socks.  Talk about your first drips.  The bar at Daya’s Fine Dining Restaurant at his compound in Queensland, Australia is so sweet.  Beautiful, comfortable, smoking allowed and fully stocked (Credit cards welcome), great appitizers and a huge fireplace.  Can’t blame him for taking a vacation, going out of town (burning up some percious oil, and my how the price of airplane fuel has shot up recently, while his Foundation delivers via U.S. Mail the checks for the thousands that pass through the foundation’s books to actual charities that do the actual work in feeding the evacuees in the Katrina tragedy, etc.  (And thanks, TPRF, for finally not trying to make the chapatis yourself this time and letting the pros do the catering -- people with actual expertise in helping people at the site of tragedies.)

(OT) Even Condi Rice was busy last week shopping and taking in a dinner and a show in New York; (hey, but the Vice President was away vacationing, as well, out of play), while the Gulf Coast experienced hell and FEMA, showing our government’s actual inability to act in an emergency, right here in America, while we continue killing insurgents in the away game.  Chaos and indecisiveness by officials here have caused the loss of thousands of lives -- both here and in Iraq.  Unnecessary and unacceptable, these people dying in New Orleans.

All rich citizens in the U.S. have set up these foundations because of their great tax benefits.  Most professional athletes have one.  In their names (because they usually have their relatives or friends running them, and that money is legally written off as administrative costs, but it’s just like giving your relatives cash), these athletes, actors and other wealthy Americans, actually do some charitable works.  Good. And Good for Malibu Prem for finally trying to do SOMETHING for somebody else other than the Rawats.  But bad for pulling a muscle patting yourself on the back with your PRNews releases.  And coloring yourself as something other than who you are:  The Bogus Self-Proclaimed Lord of the Universe.

Only because he has to, because of his I guess huge income and tax status -- because people with huge incomes have to give some of their income to charity in order to derive the most beneficial tax results, does Malibu Prem do charitable works.  He has the best tax lawyers.  Hence, THE Prem Rawat Foundation.

Subtle name.  Give me a break.  His constant longing to be respected, loved, accepted, admired, since he came here as a teenager was unending and actutally icky.  It goes on to this day, he's almost 50 and so insecure.  This respect, love and accpetance was given in tragic doses by sychophants, gopis, hippies, mahatmas, relatives, women tapped by Dettmers and wealthy donors/hangers-on 20-30 years ago and by ever dwindling numbers today.  He treats people like shit.  Though his inner circle is in the hundreds around the world, there’s only a few thousands left sniffing those butts.  But that’s it.  Ninety percent of his devotees have disowned him.  Disavowed his goodness and smiling cuteness of that little teen who really tried for a bit, but soon gave in to greed and materialism and got a Masarati and a wife soon after his 16th birthday.

His ex-devotees are vocal and won’t go away, while he remains silent in his response because he, of course, “doesn’t want to get into a pissing contest.”  (Ally Pally’s 2003 Q&A Highlight.)  Though you can catch his repetitive stress video on your community cable stations worldwide.

While we all go wild caring for those hurt in this country’s greatest natural disaster, let’s not forget, too, to remain vigil in our compassion for those who, like me, were caught in this mind-numbing, slick, fcukin cult, for so long.  And I’m sure we all wish permanent healing to those really messed up and hurt by his cult, and especially those who have alleged to being raped by his instructors (as well as those who’ve remained silent these many years after having been) while teens or children or young adults, as either cult members or children of cult members.
