I`ve thought about this a lot too.

When I ponder why we (and of course by we I mean all of you who post here who have shown some of your real selves in your posts plus me) fell for the cult, and the belief that a man could be god, I often come up the answer that perhaps most of us had father stuff.

Most certainly I had father stuff... and probably mother stuff too... and certainly Roman Catholic Priest and Nun stuff !

I`m now 50 years old and I was into the cult between 1974 and 78… for about 4 years from age 20 to 24. A very impressionable age.

Then I think about the techniques. I do think that practised out of context they are harmful.

I`d say that in context they are even more harmful. Particularly as they are `secret`. I could never deal with the secrecy aspect. It drove me mad... quite literally.

`Nectar`, turning the tongue up and into the back of the throat and holding it there, is truly the most bizzare and dangerous technique. Doing it caused me to feel detatched and disassociated from what was actually going on in my body and in my surroundings. It caused physical and mental stress to build up and gradually created huge turmoil and delusions. It took me a long time (many years), and the kind help of some very caring friends to gradually see what was happening and stop. I was heavily conditioned by all the usual factors, expectations, projection, peer pressure, and a genuine faith/belief in `god`, etc..

I suggest the `nectar` technique is the very antithesis of meditation practice, and the most dangerous and unhealthy practice of all which ought to be exposed for what it is.... pure nonsense.
