This is a harsh response - I don't expect anyone else to share it's sentiments - it's here for the record.
This is a forum about Rawat and his cult - it is not about John MacGregor. There was no plot, no conspiracy to 'get John MacGregor' simply a well informed lawyer exploiting an opportunity that was presented by John MacGregor's own actions.
To the extent that the MacGregor 'story' informs the deconstruction of the Rawat cult it is relevant to this forum - but the name MacGregor has appeared far too often (many times by my contribution) and with far too little elucidation over the last two years. And without John's honest and open personal contribution there will never be any hope of understanding exactly what occured.
Myth making is an important human process - but it does not assist an objective understanding of the past - whether that past is 20 minutes, 20 years or 20 centuries ago. Heroes are an essential part of myths and John MacGregor was for a time something of an ex premie hero, explaining his 'downfall' requires a myth because heroes don't turn into 'broken men' without some terrible evil befalling them.
John MacGregor was never a hero and asking him to be one was at best be unfair to him. He was a journlist who wrote a couple of good articles about Rawat - I deliberately say 'was' because John's professional failures in dealing with the IRCC documents and the legal fallout is tantamount to professional suicide. John's contribution to the deconstruction of the Rawat cult is at best in 'suspension' and IMO will remain dead until he actively acknowledges the degree to which his negligence put others at risk and stops blaming others for his present predicament.
