Gerry what happened was(as told me by Tom= he is a truthful chap, although will lie his head off to protect his wife) The documents were on an EV computer. Tom used to fix the EV computers. His wife brought the computer home. Tom saw the docs. He saw an opportunity to get some stuff on the cult that have his wife in their grip. He thought it a good idea to send them to John, being a journalist and all. EV knew that there could really only be one source for the leak - Tom. Because that was the only time the computer or the docs had been out of the hands of the trusted faithful few. The EV lawyer went to Tom's house just before his wife was due home from school, and told Tom that if he didn't sign they would wait until his wife got home and tell her everything he'd done in a very very unflattering light. If he signed, they would go and leave him alone and tell his wife nothing. Now Tom's achilles heel is his very subjective view of what is good for his wife. Her life is totally bound up with here premie friendships. He thinks she would collapse if she knew the truth about Rawat. He later apologised profusely to John, and expressed a fervent wish that he had never signed. I tried to argue with him that he was doing his wife more harm than good by shielding his wife from Rawat's true nature, but he was when we last spoke totally blind at that point. I was left with the impression that he would sell his own grandmother to spare his wife pain. Another 'normal'character, as per Nik's definition - some strength, some weakness. Like us all. Hope this helps Gerry. it's all starting to sound like a soap opera that just might make us a fortune if we get a script writer and serialise it into half hour slabs!!!!! |
