Look, I know you can't resist sniping at me with your insulting remarks about paranoia and conspiracies, but your post doesn't make sense.

Why would John want to set up Tom, whom he didn't even know?

And how could either one of them believe the document could be used without them being traced back to Gubler? John, in overzealousness might think he could get away with it. But not Gubler. My impression of Gubler from reading his emails, his afadavit and his posts here is that is is cold and calculating and quite intelligent.

EV was out to get John, no doubt. And they got him. This was facilitated by Gubler enticing John with his illegally gotten documents. It's not cynical or irrational to consider that Gubler, with his close ties to the cult, who worked for the cult, whose wife was a cult member, might have helped his cult friends out. After all, John was nothing to Gubler.

Of course John made a mistake. But did Gubler actively set him up on behalf of the cult? It looks that way to me.
