Governor of New Hampshire Honors Prem Rawat
CONCORD, N.H., June 28 /PRNewswire/ -- John Lynch, Governor of New Hampshire, has issued a commendation to Prem Rawat, known also as Maharaji, in honor of his exemplary life accomplishments and many contributions to citizens. The commendation reads:
WHEREAS, born in India, Prem Rawat began speaking to audiences at age three and gave his first published speech at age four; and
WHEREAS, at age eight, after the death of his father, Prem Rawat committed his life to teaching others about his father's message of peace; and
WHEREAS, since 1971, Prem Rawat has provided inspiration to millions of people and has increased the public's awareness of inner peace and contentment; and
WHEREAS, honored with many awards and accolades from many institutions, Prem Rawat has become known as an international leader in the world's effort for greater peace; and
NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOHN LYNCH, Governor of the State of New Hampshire, do hereby commend PREM RAWAT in honor of his exemplary career, life accomplishments, and many contributions to our citizens.

In February, the Foundation gave $175,000 to the World Food Programme for hunger relief to Indonesian tsunami victims and started a food aid program in Sri Lanka. In March, Prem Rawat launched a long-term hunger relief project in northern India.
Two weeks ago, at the conclusion of an event hosted by Miami Dade College, the largest institution of higher education in the United States, Prem Rawat handed a check for $25,000 to Karen Sendelback, CEO and President of Friends of the World Food Programme.
