If you tell al big enough lie, some people will believe it.

Also, it's easier to hide your head in the sand and pretend everything is okay than to actually question what is going on.  So, it's easier for premies just to pretend that it all makes sense and there are no contradictions.  How they live with themselves with such incredible self-delusion and dishonesty is another fquestion.
