They are all very much appreciated. We are confident that the website will be back up soon.

As JHB rightly points out, the few quotes and pictures of Prem Rawat used to illustrate certain points and which are protected under the "fair use" doctrine of free speech, do not in any way constitute the substance of the prem-rawat-maharaji.info website. The website content is based on original work.

The use of quotes and pictures on PRMI clearly fall under "fair use" and EV would have a herculean task before them to prove otherwise in court. However EV's action may be more ominous. If the previous action by Elan Vital against EPO is any indication, it does not seem that EV is even interested in protecting their copyrights but instead in silencing criticism. The legal climate post-DCMA has caused many website providers to turn off websites they host at the mere receipt of a DMCA copyright complaint. In real terms this means that an organisation can at least temporarily shut down websites during crucial time periods. In Elan Vital's case this would be around the time of a major program as Babaluji has suggested.

The reader might consider the appropriateness of this kind of tactic from a self-proclaimed leading voice for peace who likes to compare himself to personages such as Martin Luther King Jr. and Mahatma Gandhi. Such suppression of critique is more reminiscent of some other less-savoury world leaders.

Finally one is reminded of the old dog that can't learn new tricks. Similar actions by Elan Vital in the past have almost always resulted in a negative net fallout for them it terms of embarassment and public image.

We will continue to post information here as the situation progresses.
