R.,

Thanks much for taking the time to share your story here.

Your jail question is interesting.  Very few religious frauds go to jail.  Very few even get investigated, because it is perfectly legal to be a religious fraud.  You have to do something illegal to get investigated.  Jim Baker is the only example I can think of who has spent jail time.  I'm sure there are others, but they are so obscure as to not make the news.

The question about the truthfulness of Rawat's teachings is not easy to answer definitively.  Obviously there are many people who believe in Rawat's message and are willing to help him propagate it.  And obviously there are many people who reject Rawatism entirely and are every bit as angry about it as you are.  So I guess we can be glad that these days, both sides of the story can be told.

Does Rawat believe himself?  This, too, is hard to figure out.  He is either a con man or a self-deluded narcsissist.  Or he is in fact some sort of Perfect Master.  I personally think he is a man who believes in the greatness of himself and his message and he feels justified in presenting misleading information to the public if necessary.

After just one or two days, you have hit the nail on the head when you say that peace comes from within and not from any one person.  Rawat is going to have a lot of trouble propagating his message because it includes himself as the Master of a person's inner connection to their own heart.  If you were to go through all the Keys, you would discover this teaching.

But, Rawat seems determined to make an effort to increase the number of his students.  He will not be happy if the Keys project does not work.  And you are one of the first examples of a new person rejecting the Keys.  Rawat has a a lot of anger and a lot of resources to vent it.  You would be wise to remain unconfrontational unless you are willing to put up with some negative consequences.  Read on EPO about Pal Halley, Neville A.,  John Macgregor, and the CAC episode, for a few examples.

Thanks again for your input .
