I never heard anybody actually contend that the rank and file didn't contribute to the cult, even if they did it unwhittingly.  My only point was that many of the PAMs or encouraged people to do that, sometimes for their own reasons of ambition or did what they did without concern for the effects on the rank and file.. 

I was more reacting to what I perceived as some mixed messages with respect to Glen Whittaker, and your post to Pat about how he also was a fanatic and would have done dishonest things if he thought it would get him closer to Rawat. (That's the way I interpreted it.) 

 I got the implication that somehow we were all the the same boat because we were in the same cult, and that's something I reject.  But I do agree that you can't contend that the cult was just run by PAMs and everyone else were just cattled being herded.
