"For what it is worth, I know all these people very well."

I knew Nick S-J and Glen , seeing them regularly..., talking to them from time to time.

 Nick was sweet but quite serious.

Glen was funny in conversation and liked " chit-chat" and gossip ( tut tut ). He seemed to be fund-raiser-in-chief  when it came to soliciting funds at programs.He had the knack of asking in a jokey way ( but all the while gritting his teeth and staring round at the congregation ) and was usually more persuasive and successful than most .In retrospect  he was definitely suppressing his true feelings about that ghastly job ( hence the gritted teeth) and all in the service of the Lord !

Nothing like a bit of laughter to make us empty our pockets .
