The black hole, like the one in the center of our galaxy, performs a valuable duty...... it keeps our entire galaxy together.  WIthout it, we would be flung into the far reaches of who-knows-where and would not enjoy the night sky as we see it, at the very least.

They sweep up the flotsam and jetsam and keep the universe nice and clean. 

If I can't call a celery stick what it is, then black holes are off limits, too
