When EV talks about how many people are showing up at events and how many are receiving knowledge, the big numbers are in India, to the extent that is true.
As for the West, maybe a couple of hundred people receive knowledge every year. I think it was 250 in North America in 2003. So we are talking tiny numbers. More people leave than receive knowledge, which probably accounts for the dwindling numbers you saw at events.
And then of course in India, it's a whole different ball of wax, because many of those people have several Gurus, or are only marginally involved. It's in the West were propagation hasn't really happened to any extent in the past 25 years.
Really, after about 1976, propagation was really dead. Very dead from then until I left in 1983, because then we were in the "devotion and surrender" period and Rawat was actively playing God, which was not attractive to people, no matter how we tried to cover that up.
