Joe,I have not said they "got what was offered", I have said they're living pretty normal, enjoyable lives. The one question I can never understand is how premies have reconciled themselves to this extraordinary dichotomy. I agree absolutely that "there may be premies who have gotten into a comfortable form of religion and don't really pay any attention to what they were told it was all about." I think it's most of them but I'm sure there will always be a few zealots.
I have never said it is not a cult but as there are quite enough people here saying that EV is a cult, and I agree wholeheartedly with that statement, that there is no need for me to reiterate it.
Apathy and resignation are terms with negative connotations and you may be an extraordinary person with very high standards but I believe premies should be compared to normal run of the mill people like myself to determine if there lives are peaceful and enjoyable. On that basis they don't seem to be leading lives in which they redouble their bets in an endless ponzi scheme of disillusionment desperate to attain what they were promised in 1972. They've probably forgotten what they were promised, you and I obviously haven't.
