I thought it was interesting that last week, a jury in San Jose, California found that the Roman Caltholic Archdiocese of San Francisco knew "or should have known" that a priest was molesting kids in a San Jose parish, St. Martin of Tours, in the early 1970s, and had done nothing to stop it.
They haven't set the damages yet, but I assume they will be substantial. So, we should keep in mind here, that Elan Vital might argue that it "didn't know," about Jagdeo (which is hard to believe), but the test also is that it "should have known" about the abuse, and perhaps had a duty to investigate rumors or allegations.
Given that Anth is talking about what a "national coordinator" knew and that the action was to send Jagdeo to the Far East, that might be very significant. I understand Elan Vital has settled with at least one of Jagdeo's victims. Are there any more who have settled?
