one the of the big misconceptions i had was that these devotees were being held against their will. i know in the case of my friend his family was involved in securing him from the ashram. while we were outraged and assumed he was in the sturggle of his life (lots of premie mythology re: the horrible ordeal), he has a different version. he claims it only took about two hours to flip him. the rest of the time we were worrying and praying for his release he was skiing in tahoe and laying on the beach in la jolla.
