It was quite common for people who'd been initiated in 70, 71, & the early part of 72, to shake their heads at the enormity of GMJ's grace, which had allowed them to become premies, before the Lord in his mysterious purposes raised the bar of entry so high.

The crackdown on allowing people to get the K after just a couple of weeks of listening to satsang on & off, ie showing your face sufficiently to be recognised by the mahatma doing the choosing, began in the spring of 72.  After that it became increasingly the case that would be recruits had to prove a level of commitment well beyond that shown by all but a minority of the previous intake.

I'm inclined to the view that all this had more to do with the dynamics of what happens after revolutions, rather than much to do with religion. Maybe we should count ourselves lucky that ours was based on Love & Peace.

DLM was essentially a Fascist organisation, & I don't mean that as an insult, but as a description of fact. I've been able to apologise to a few people who pointed that out to me at the time, that they were right & I was wrong, but there are those now dead who I can't reach.
