Hey Joe,
How're you doing? Nice to hear from you.
You know, I just started listening to the first clip, some unknown female premie, and I was really struck by not just the content of what she was saying, which is indeed "most fauning, disgusting, self-esteem-destroying and mind-fudging" (it's not polite to swear, Joe), but also the whole style of speech she demonstrates. Her phrasing, idiom, her thought flow, cadence ... it's all completely of a type. We were all of that type. Not an original thought or impulse in the process. It's spooky hearing this now, now that we've moved on and out of that time and culture. The small ways we thought we expressed ourselves as individuals are completely dwarfed by the obvious signs of how limited we were.
But then, when you think about it, wasn't that exactly what we were trained to do? From the start, back in the early 70's, we were taught to think that Maharaji spoke through us through the miracle of satsang. If that wasn't a recipe for parrotting, what is? And even though we supposedly left behind that part of the program, we never really did. These clips prove in spades how caught we were in this charade.
