From 1/12 Washington Post:
India's ambassador to Washington, Ronen Sen, said yesterday that his country was able to handle its relief effort on its own following last month's tsunami in the Indian Ocean, which hit his country and 11 others, killing more than 150,000 people.
He defended his government's decision to decline international relief aid, which he said was neither an "insensitive response, nor was it snooty or arrogant, but a matter of capability, timely reaction and pride."
Now what is the Rawt's 501(3)(c) charitable foundation going to do with the $120,000 it collected saying that they were going to have their ashram in Delhi provide food for the needy in the Southern tip of India (now how in the hell are they able to do that?). Of course, they're way too late, and haven't sent down the first chapati as yet. In fact, the Indian government is handling things just fine. Why not just spend the money on more flying lessons for the "Boss" so he can fly around the world (staying in first class hotels, eating at four star restaurants with his entourage on the Foundation's dime) telling people that he is no longer the Lord of the Universe, but just a humble humanitarian (with a $25 million dollar home overlooking the Pacific Ocean.)
Here's what The Foundation of Rawat said yesterday in their "press release" about Rawat receiving a recognition from the City of Lost Angels:
It has received more than US $120,000 in contributions in recent weeks for victims of the tsunami in Southeast Asia and is preparing to contribute to the relief efforts.
What, they're still twisting up three hundred thousand cotton ball arti candle wicks as we speak in preparation for Rawat's upcoming speaking engagements in India??? The damn tsunami hit almost three weeks ago. HOW'RE THE PREPARATIONS COMING, PREM? If the Indian Government was still PREPARING to help people, they'd have starved to death by now. Geesh!
