No you can't get away with that.

I heard him interviewed, and he was very forthcoming about the contribution to the work of his friend. I think the two of them knocked ideas about between them I doubt anyone, including themselves, would be able to say who contributed the most.

Kahneman isn't saying don't believe in yourself. He demonstrates with a lot of simple experiments how biased we are, how important framing is, how easy it is to be misled. He doesn't simply assert these things, he demonstrates them.

I remember Lakeshore asking on this forum what was the most significant thing I learned sailing alone across the Atlantic. Without a doubt, it was what I learned from reading Kahneman's 'Thinking fast, thinking slow'. I think it is the most important book I ever read, and it's probably time to read it again.

Gut instinct might be just the thing to react quickly to danger, but it's not always right, and if you want to idealise it and regard it as the lodestar to guide your life, you won't be the first to be wrong.

What happened to Lakeshore anyway? He too found the book a powerful influence, but we didn't hear much more from him after he read it.
