Hi Pat,

I must confess -- the last bastion of free speech -- that we, too, were on the porch banging pots in support of health workers sharply at 7:00. Laurie heard of it first and thought it was a nice gesture although I lost interest fast. There weren't any health care workers outside to hear us and the banging bugs my ears. I can destroy my hearing in the basement, no problem (although I use ear plugs now) but the pots, no.

But that Bawer article in my other post puts him not just on the same page but your identical paragraph. Nice to hear it from you both. Over here, where we haven't fetishized our health services to the extent Britain has, it's not such a loaded gesture. Plus, we already have a growing religion here. No, not Islam although it's rising fast. I'm thinking of Pride (a/k/a Gay Pride). That's the national holiday that garners the most reverence, time, ink and zealotry. Too bad the parades aren't running this spring.

Did you see John? We enjoyed Riga and Latvia too. Yeah, travelling  ..... I wish I hated it anyway.

I know a few Canadians who got trapped in Mexico which has turned into hell for them, stuck, can't get home, resources depleting ...

Sad.

As for the BBC's manipulation of the truth -- isn't that always relevant to every discussion? -- here's a good one too:

Laurie smiled at your hello from Kate and says right back at ya' both.
