Oh go on. Peep out from under the blankets.

I guess it really starts with famine in Africa, where the locusts have made a start and corona is just arriving. Then we have the possibility that the virus mutates enough that we can't create a vaccine, any more than we have a vaccine for the common cold. And then as the virus population increases, so does the number of mutations, so who knows what it could turn into. Us old farts might need social distancing for the rest of our lives, no return to 'normal'. Each Christmas the kids show up so we can wave at them.

And just because you have one pandemic doesn't mean you can't have another. There's a fashion here for feeding dogs raw meat. Recent analysis has shown that nearly all the samples tested contained antibiotic resistant bacteria - things resistant to a dozen commonly used antibiotics. The misuse of antibiotics, especially in animals (isn't it still used as a growth enhancer in America?) will almost certainly become a really big nasty issue.

What's going to happen with the economy? There's the hit from the loss of jobs and productivity short term, but how long will it go on? And I guess many countries will aim to limit global trade, becoming more self-sufficient. That will be OK for some big countries with a lot of natural resources, but little crowded places and places that have depended on exports - not so bright for them.

Normal is over.

However, someone might discover a new anti-viral treatment that cures the cold as well as corona
