about the publisher of this new magazine:

As a reporter, my independent journalism has been read by hundreds of thousands of people and featured in Huffington Post, Alternet, Tikkun Magazine amongst other places. I also have a chapter in the book “21st Century Yoga: Culture, Politics & Practice.”

I’m a long time investigative journalist and founder/editor of the popular online magazine Decolonizing Yoga. I’m most known for my recent article “Tech Bro Guru: Inside the Sedona Cult of Bentinho Massaro.” It went viral with over 200,000 views in the first month and led to Bentinho fleeing Sedona. In 2010, I was one of the first to write about the dangers of now disgraced Guru Andrew Cohen. My article Integral Abuse: Andrew Cohen and the Culture of Evolutionary Enlightenment is considered a classic by Frank Visser, founder of Integral World. My most recent article “How a Cult Infiltrated the California Institute of Integral Studies” told the wild story of how I helped take down an abusive personality cult in my graduate program.

I’ve written numerous other articles holding the powerful accountable, cutting through spiritual bypassing and helping people better understand spirituality.

Hi Howard,

I read the last link, the one about a cult in academic land.

Goodness that professor Chatterji was an old school guru type.  The same traditions as the Rawats.  What a horrible woman and Shapiro didn't look much better.

Fascinating story.  I have at times wished I had gone to uni but over the years I have noticed that academia seems to be a bit crazy, just as much as any other field.  And this story sort of tops off the cake!

It's all about grants isn't it.  Grants and well paid positions.  Slightly less crazy if you think of it like that but what a miserable story - a vicious intense lunatic  self-serving cult being supported as a course of studies even when they knew about it.

and what's the course of studies about anyway?
