I'm copying a part of a post of mine from a thread about being around premies.
I'm reposting on it's own thread because to me this is fundamental.
he starts out as a premie right? at 6 or something, ludicrous, and without having asked for it but said yes because his father ( master) asked him if he wanted it.
Does he even practise?

A couple of nights ago I read this excerpt from the Soul Rush book, on the PR bio site. It is significant to me because if I had known THIS fact , just this one, I would have left years ago.

You see I thought of Maharaji as the ultimate premie.
He had his master and he as a devotee was an example to me of the way to be a devotee of the master.
As evidenced by this small paragraph from the book, this is not what he wanted me to think! see below

My personal question was, does Maharaj Ji actually think he's a divine figure? This seemed like the crux of the whole matter. Back in November I had written a little blurb for a brochure advertising the festival commemorating Hans' birthday. I had said, "This is a special occasion because it gives us a chance to see that Maharaj Ji is not only a Guru but also a premie, a person just like us." Somehow this slipped by Sharon and got printed in the Divine Times. Once it had been run off ten thousand copies' worth, Jeff came into my office and said, shaking his head, "You really blew it this time. You really did." "Why, what's the trouble?" "Maharaj Ji's no premie, stupid. When Bob saw the newspaper, he called the Boss. There's no way he's going to release that issue of the paper saying he's a premie. We have to reprint and recollate." Shaking his head, Jeff walked out. On one hand I felt sorry I'd insulted Maharaj Ji, but, wow, did that sound like ego. Thinking about it now, toward the end of January, it seemed to be rather indicative. If Maharaj Ji wouldn't step off the stage for a minute, then maybe he was afraid - if the premies got one close look, it might ruin the magic. p228-9
(The humble servant of God won't allow himself to be portrayed as just a normal person. Sophia gets a reality check but it's still not enough to enlighten her … yet.)

"Does he even practise?"  Back in the day, he said something about having actually realized the knowledge so he no longer needed to do the 4 techniques.

It was all so confusing.  Sometimes, he would play the humble premie role by talking about his devotion to his old man.  This would allow us to fill in the blanks as to how we should be devoted to his divine arse.

Your post propelled me to think about all the guys or gals out there portrayed ( portraying themselves) as "enlightened"

In the case of Rawat, being described to be " a person just like us" was not something he could accept to come across as.
He had/has to keep that image of ultimate superiority for his smilblick to keep holding.

He is a fake. No doubt.
But then, there are so many out there, who may not pretend to be god itself...- for that is really far fectched comedy - but at least so much superior.

While it is reasonable to recognize that different human beings do develop knowledge in specific areas which make them experts in some matters, it seems to me that the moment they detach themselves from the rest of everybody as being sacrosant, they loose their humanity.
Which in the case of Rawat is plain fact. Yet not a plus. Rather a disease of the soul.

Moreover in Rawat' case, I cannot see anything he evr did, said, achieved, which would confer him any special status.
Seems that his only skill is to have been able to run on what his family made of him when he was a kid. He took that and ran with it against all evidence.

If we look at Krishnamurti, he did just the opposite. He was chosen by this Theosophical Society to be the next messiah, raised to be one, and at some point called them on their craziness, saying there is no such a thing as a messiah or ultimate guru.
Now thats a bit more honest. ( even though some made him a guru for saying he was not one...o well people do want gurus, thats probably why they are around )

So did I.
What you wrote is certainly reflective of the time as I remember it.
(Obviously Bob & Jeff weren't listening ). He often spoke about his service to his gmj.

I remember him saying that he never wanted to be a gmj, he only wanted to be a premie, just an ordinary premie who is dust(lol, he can't stand dust) under the feet of gmj. He said that he regarded his own guruship as service to his gmj who had given him agya.(just as probably Satpal & Bhole think of themselves).

Maharaji was always putting himself up as the perfect devotee.  Especially when he got going during big programs, like Hans Jayanti.  He was always spouting on about his Shri Maharaji, his goomrodgie.  There is so much documentation in Rawat's own words, it isn't even funny.

But, I have to laugh at your story, except the part where you get called "stupid."

I just re-read my post and i have said i was copying a post of mine??
I'm not sure how that slipped in there I muat have started with my idea of him as a premie then edited it to copying the post that got me all riled up, as this is not my post- i copied  part of the 'soulrush' book by a young woman in the 70's.
 sorry for any confusion there.
I re-read  my post when you posted this and still didn't see that I had written 'mine' in there....
I was no where near M ( thankfully?) but
I am permanently fascinated by those who were.
But yes if I had been there at that time and been called stupid for supposing that he was a premie, which i did for what seemed like a century, I would have had the pleasure of ex-ing then as this woman did ( forget the author now)
The fact that he called Hans, his father, his master always had me supposing he looked to his own master and was teaching me how to be a devotee, as i'm pretty sure a lot of rank and file premies do
Anyhow many thanks Cynthia for your wonderful posts and considered responses to others posts
Not sure how i managed to misconstrue this i must have been in a right flap! It still sticks in my craw

I can't believe anyone's reading that far back!

I don't worry about mistakes or miscommunications anymore.

Life's too short.

Mike Dettmers once told me he'd never seen Rawat once meditate in all the 17 or however many years it was he'd spent with him, pretty much on a day to day basis.

I peeked once when he was finishing a knowledge review and we were all supposed to be meditating and he was still sitting there but he certainly wasn't meditating then.

Hi Patrick .
