When I quit the cult, a friend had got in the habit of spending quite a bit of time with Rawat, one to one. My friend suggested I should come to meet Rawat. He could arrange that. I said I had nothing to say to him. I guess I was still processing leaving the cult and didn't feel certain enough of myself to walk into the dragon's den. Anyway, my friend persisted, saying that Rawat could really do with some interaction with someone who might point out where he's wrong. He said Rawat was a bit strange in many ways, but put it all down to the fact that nobody has stood up to him for most of his life. I guess some must have occasionally, but that was my friend's

 take on it.

I'm guessing that all those people you listed have the same problem. If you are surrounded by worshippers or people afraid to stand up to you you will inevitably end up with a pretty warped view of the world.

I guess I should count myself lucky to be surrounded by people happy and willing to take the piss out of me.
