So I think the crucial sentence in that EV statement is the third sentence (correct me if I am wrong): (3) 'The use of this title, which was used only in the '70s—an era of love for all things Indian— does not imply any claims that the person is holy anymore than the use of "His Excellence" means that the person is an embodiment of excellence.' So the essence of that sentence (leaving out extraneous bits) is: "The use of this title...does not imply any claims that the person is holy..." And I said: "Note...It does NOT state that the person in question is NOT 'holy'." And isn't that correct? The use of the title does not imply that the person is "holy". (Or "Lord".) But it does not imply that the person is NOT "holy" either. (Or NOT "Lord".) That's very clear to me. I accepted that the EV statement was side-stepping the question, not giving a full and direct answer, being discreet. You may not like that - but it is not a lie. That's what I said. |
