Just asking.  I did a nine-month stretch as forum admin about three years ago.  It's not easy, and you don't get many thanks for it.  Multi-alias trolls were the worst thing.  Exes feeling insulted by other posters was the next trickiest.  Off-topic threads were probably the third.  So, yes, I know where you're coming from.

But remembering Forum II, late '97, when I first logged-on, and it seemed the world was fresh and new, and finally putting the boot into whassname alongside like-minded souls... God, how gratifying was that?  Point being, there were no alternative forums (fora?) then, so you'd get all sorts of lively discussions on peripheral, but relevant, topics.  Cults generally, evolution, does Darwin exist? was God's theory wrong?  You name it,

I won't go to AAA anymore.  If I wanted a minute-by-minute update on the right-wing political thoughts of Jean-Claude-Bicycle-gears I would get him to text them to me.  He's a decent enough bloke, and I'm sure he'd send me sixty a day...

But I digress.  Just read for a moment the Monty Python extract that cq has posted.  For me, that speaks volumes about the cult experience - explains so much in a subtle way.  AND FUNNY!

Love to know what you or others think on this...

Anyway, Pac Mod, I'm such an infrequent poster these days (I read more than post) I don't want to speak out of turn.  So you just keep up the good work, ok?  It's a pig of a job, and I wouldn't want it back..

Best,
Nige
