i had an english teacher once (during one of many trainings at the arbeitsamt), jay (was gay;we have a rhyme here). a native american , he once went to .....i guess it was pittsburg, anyway a university city in the us with a large amount of descendants from german immigrants.and in case somebody didn't get him quite right, they said "please" indeed, and jay thought to himself "please what, what is wrong here?" until he found out.
i guess you can encounter even funnier things when you come closer to the mexican border.toby
