You say "He is offering to be a "spiritual guide" to people who are going to judge him by what he decides to say to them and by what he offers; no more, no less."If this is true, then why is it necessary for him to hide his lifestyle and lie about his past? By doing so, he is implicitly catering to "people's concepts about how or what a spiritual guide should be like". If he considered it irrevelant, he would let it all hang out – and this forum and EPO would most likely not exist. And this ex-follower would have a lot more respect for him.
