I knew of him. He had been the head honcho in OZtralia and then he moved in down the road in Brisbane on his return from being head honcho in England. While every other premie in Australia was madly ss,m & darshaning to the limit of their ability he began what in retrospect became the premie method of the 80's and 90's ie he began a normal life and I think I remember he made no secret of his beliefs that the premies had it wrong.
My attitude is that without the early 70's millenialism and the later 70's bhakti perfectionism there is nothing but an empty core in "practising Knowledge" but Mr Lovejoy and the remaining long termers disagree. He's a very smart guy but I remember that his "Best Cult Apology of all Time" (and a pretty snide one at that) made no sense unless you accepted that "Knowledge" was the valid and bona fide spiritual path and if you accept that then you can accept anything in Rawat World but without that a priori belief everything looks very shady indeed.
While it certainly isn't true that 99% of premie marriages failed (I'd out the figure in Australia at around 70%) it is true that Mr Lovejoy's did but I've been told that he very sensibly married a Christian second time around and that one has lasted.
