The followers of Neem Karoli Baba have done a good whitewash on their Guru as people generally think he was an ok guru.  Thanks for your input Will, I was trying to quickly do some more research on this guy, but dinner got in the way.  You saved me some time.  Thanks.

I agree that gurism is bad.  My biggest beef with gurus in general is that, by definition, they set themselves up as being superior to people, they set themselves up as having some 'inner knowledge' that can only be found by either some inordinate struggle or complete surrender and devotion to themselves. This is inherently dangerous for people's emotional makeup and indeed sanity as one never arrives at the destination that is apparently 'there'. Sure one can have some pretty amazing inner experiences, but they are never long lasting and anyway places one into a false cocoon.  Far better is to simply experience the 'bliss' of everyday experiences.
